I will wait for You Lord Jesus
Like Mary waited on the back of a donkey
Pain surging through her body
Fear beating in her heart
There was no room at the inn they said
No midwife, no hospital, no bed
Was this how it was supposed to be?
What was it Gabriel said?
She waited to meet her Messiah,
How honoured I am she said
And like my sister Mary
I will wait
I will wait for You Lord Jesus
Like she who was untouchable
Separated from her family, she’s bleeding
Don’t walk next to her she’s bleeding
Every festival she sat alone
She stood at her doorway … alone
She ate her food … alone
She slept in her bed … alone
Waiting to die … alone
No doctor could help her, she was desperate
Till she ran to touch Your cloak
I will wait
I will wait for You Lord Jesus
Just like the woman at the well
No friendly face to love her
Drawing water, can anyone love her
Walking home, does anyone love her
Separated from community
Living with a man but O so lonely
No mother, no father, no brother
No husband, no child, no sister
Until you spoke and called her
Into a new life
I will wait
I will wait in dark times for guidance
In pain, I will seek Your strength
Like the Magi followed the star to Bethlehem
I will seek You, I will wait
